First of all, can we talk about the weather in Borana again? I told y’all before that it was pretty chilly, and it was… but the fact that I got to wear SWEATSHIRTS in July made me soooooo happy!
On day two in Borana we decided to relax at the lodge in the morning. The views were so breathtaking, and we had been going NONSTOP up until that point. The kids hung around the veranda all day long drawing, playing, and reading. It was a very peaceful morning.
Here’s a random tip if you ever do a safari: It’s okay to skip a game-drive here and there. We did two almost every day, but sometimes we would ask to take a drive off. We could just tell when our kids needed a little bit of R&R. Most days we would go out in the morning and evening, but we did take several mornings off!
When we did go on a drive, we saw all kinds of beautiful animals. This was the only place where we found rhinos! Also, look at that beautiful crane!
We really hit the jackpot on our second day in Borana. We were on our way to do a horseback ride for the kids when our guide noticed a pride of lions. Instead of going straight to the horses, we went to see the lions first. Israel spotted the pride first and it was HUGE pride! There were 22 lions all in one spot!! They were just resting and relaxing in the bush…so incredible! It was really neat to see so many different ages of cubs in one place.
After admiring the lions for a bit, we went to ride horses which the kids LOVED. Israel’s horse had the toots and Joelle’s wanted to run… all which made for a very entertaining evening!
