It’s really starting to sink in that I go back to work soon… 3 weeks and 2 days to be exact, so I haven’t done as much picture taking as normal. I’ve really been soaking in every moment with our sweetie and left the camera by the wayside! BUT, I want to give you a little weekly wrap-up from things that went on last week!
-Joelle went to church for the first time last Sunday. She was pretty close to perfect during the service last week and today. During the sermon she did a little coloring, but mostly just sat there taking it all in. We only had to redirect her a few times ๐
-Our big girl has slept in her bed for 6 nights now without Mommy and Daddy! For the first 2 weeks she slept on the floor of our room on a fluffy pallet. We decided it was time to move her into her own room last Monday night. It was just time, and we knew it. I’m pretty sure it upset me more than her, ha! Anyways, she does really well all by herself ๐ After taking a bath and brushing teeth all three of us head to Joelle’s room for a bible story and prayers. Joelle now says her prayers all by herself and is learning who Jesus is! Makes our hearts happy!!! After that she quickly falls asleep and we’re off to our room!
-We visited the dentist for the first time! Everything was all cherries and roses up until the moment that she had to get a very small cavity filled. Well, she was supposed to get 2 fillings, but since there was a *minor* freak-out after the first one the dentist decided to postpone the second filling until her next visit!
-We had a mommy-daughter shopping date to hunt down the perfect family picture clothes. This girl really loves clothes and shoes and does not quite understand why she can’t keep on the clothes after trying them on! And, with limited English knowledge, it’s very difficult to explain ๐
-On Friday we had the day we’ve been dreading for months now. The first day of shots!!! We are making up for 3 years of missed shots ๐ Poor thing actually had her best doctor’s visit to date until they brought out those nasty needles! She let our a few screams (loud enough to wake the entire hospital) and was sore for about 24 hours. Needless to say we aren’t looking forward to the next round in 2 months!
And, today we visited the zoo again! It was a BEAUTIFUL day, so we headed that way right after church! Seeing all of the animals, colors, etc really is helping with her language development. Every new experience she learns lots of new words!!! YAY!
We are still very much in love with our little girl and often ask each other, “How did we get so lucky?!” She’s definitely added lots of joy and spunk to our household!!!

It is so much fun reading about the adventures with your new little one. Keep in mind, there is not much school left and then you will be on summer break.

I agree with what Courtney said! Also, I just LOVE Joelle's sunglasses. Too stinkin' cute!!

Amy, I hate that you have to go back so soon! I was hoping the time you took off for medical reasons would not count against your maternity leave! I am heading back to the classroom next Friday and I know I'm going to be a wreck and I've had over 12 weeks with my little one. I couldn't imagine going back after such a short time! Best wishes to you!
