Good morning, friends! I don’t know if I’ll be able to document our every day in Hawaii like this, but the other 2 people in my family are being quite the sleepyheads right now. I mean, it’s 6:45 am here… time to wake up, people ;)! So, I thought I’d take this opportunity to walk you through Joelle’s first day in the ocean because it was quite the experience!
We started snorkeling right away. And, by snorkeling this is what I mean…
Jared swam our booties out while we propped ourselves on this raft ๐
After seeing lots of beautiful, gentle fish we look down to see this… A dadgum shark! Are you kidding me?! We were probably half a mile out in the ocean so there was no running to a boat, shore, or the closest rock. We literally just had to watch it swim by. I die! Did I mention we had our daughter with us?! Who, by the way, thinks sharks are the cutest thing ever!
After snorkeling in the morning and consuming every snack that we bought, we took a little nap… just to wake up and do it all over again! This is the view right outside of our condo. It is simply amazing.
So, as we are walking over to the beach, I look over a cliff and see turtles swimming right around those black rocks where the water is really choppy. Immediately we walked straight down to them… quite the walk it was, climbing over rocks and such. But, it was so worth it because we got to watch the turtles eat and swim (up close) for about 30 minutes to an hour. They were all kinds of HUGE and beautiful!
I mean, seriously, who sees fish, a shark, and tons of turtles in Hawaii on their VERY FIRST DAY??!
It was super choppy, but we decided that Jared and Joelle couldn’t pass up the opportunity to get in the water with these beautiful creatures. As for me… I was the turtle spotter AKA too chicken to get in the water after seeing a shark. Did I mention that we swam by a shark?!
Then, we went to the beach for a little sand fun! Jared pulled out all the stops to make this sand turtle for Joelle… who may have jumped right on it after he was done ๐
And then he did what everyone does when they go to the beach… cover their daughter in sand!
She loved every second of it and thought it was so cool that the sand was all up in her booty, ha!
As if we didn’t see enough beauty in the morning, right before dinner we stepped on the back patio and saw a gorgeous rainbow! What a beautiful display of God’s faithfulness! He definitely showed us how amazing how and beautiful His creation is!!! I must say that Joelle is quite the beauty as well!
We ate dinner at one of our favorite spots… CJ’s! Joelle’s becoming quite the photographer of Mama and Papa ๐
Following dinner we went to downtown Lahaina to shop and watch the beautiful sunset!
And, of course, we HAD to get a snow cone!
Who can eat the most?!
After some shopping, we were absolutely exhausted. For the first time EVER Joelle admitted that she was sleepy and ready for bed… she pretty much begged us to go back to the condo, ha! I can’t wait to see what the rest of our time here holds! It’s sure going to be hard to beat our first day… but, I am ready to experience all of it with our little one!!!

Hi there! I have followed your blog for a while & it's so funny that you were in Hawaii because I just got back from honeymooning there! It's crazy looking at your pictures because you went to a luau at the resort we stayed at & went to a lot of similar places that we did (CJ's, Lahaina, etc…). I'm jealous that you saw so many turtles! ; )
