A New Year’s Eve with the Lemons… and Wiles :)

January 1, 2012

To all of you that know Jared and I… you know that we are a little less than exciting when it comes to New Year’s Eve.  We tend to do something very low-key {hoping/praying the entire time that our students from our student ministry are making wise choices :)}.  This year was no different from the years past!  Although, we do try to make the most boring of things exciting ๐Ÿ™‚
We went with Kent and Sarah to a REALLY yummy mexican food restaurant named Manny’s in Uptown.  It was super delish, and I’m pretty sure we went through about 15 bowls of chips.  However, since we were still in 2011 it was okay to overeat.  I mean, we’ll start eating healthy tomorrow, right?!  haha!
After dinner, we headed over to Breadwinners to grab some dessert to-go.  Since we had stuffed ourselves full of chips plus our meals, we knew we needed some “give” time before we chowed down again.
Then, probably the best thing of 2011 happened.  Kent got poo-ed on my a flock of birds!  It was more than funny when we realized it at Central Market (especially since he is a tad scared of germs!)
So, he spent quite a while trying to clean himself up…
While we ate our yummy desserts…

Before I changed into my jammies… I asked Kent to take a pic of Jared and I.  This is how that adventure turned out:

After a quick change to more comfy clothes… Sarah and I danced our hearts out in Just Dance 3, with Sarah winning the majority of the rounds, while Jared and Kent went to shoot some of our teenagers with their air-soft guns.

So, all in all, it was pretty uneventful, but exactly how I love spending New Year’s Eve… going to a new restaurant, eating delish desserts, and enjoying the peace and quiet of my home with people I love!!!

I am reading through the book of Galatians, so I’ll leave you with a verse that I hope to remember throughout this new year as I’m trying to live more for Christ and less for myself (a daily struggle that I have since I tend to be pretty self-consumed!):
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20

Happy New Year from our house to yours!
